A Conversation with Justice Rosalie Abella

Justice Rosalie Abella will begin our "Conversation with …" series for this semester on January 22 at 4:00 pm in the Law Boardroom.  She was the first jewish female judge in Canada and presently is on the Court of Appeal in Ontario. 

Her background includes:  Judge on the Ontario Provincial Court (Family Division); Sole Commissioner of the Federal Royal Commission on Equality in Employment; elected to the Royal Society of Canada; and First Incumbent, James R. Bullock Visiting Chair in Canadian Studies, Hebrew University of Jerusalem.  She graduated from the University of Toronto Law School with an LL.B.

Justice Abella is married and has two sons.  She is the daughter of two holocaust prison camp survivors who migrated to Canada after World War II.
