Congratulations to third year students Meredith Belser, Boyce Richardson and Lauren Trask for their excellent achievements in last week’s 2007 Mardi Gras Invitational Sports Law Competition in New Orleans. The team prevailed over teams from Florida Atlantic University Law School, Villanova Law School, Detroit-Mercy College of Law and Michigan State Law School to make it to the "final four" in the competition. The WFU team ultimately lost in a very close round to the University of California-Hastings, the eventual competiton champion.
These achievements were a result of a strong team effort which included an exceptional brief written by Lauren Trask and masterful arguments by Boyce Richardson regarding the bankruptcy issue and Meredith Belser regarding the arbitration issue. Professor Don Castleman, the team coach, dedicated numerous hours to insure that the team was prepared and highly seeded upon entering the preliminary rounds of the competition.
Congratulations Lauren, Boyce, Meredith and Professor Castleman for this outstanding showing. You were wonderful reprsentatives of WFU, and we’re proud of you! Go Deacs!
