Students at Wake Forest University School of Law played Santa Claus this holiday season for patients at Brenner’s Children Hospital.
Second-year law student Joshua Aguilar, who organized the toy drive, and Law School Dean Blake Morant delivered more than 200 toys to the hospital on Friday, Dec. 19.
“Thanks to the generosity of law students, faculty, staff and others in the community, every child and teenager currently being treated in the hospital will receive a toy,” Aguilar said.
Local businesses that donated items included the Starbucks on Reynolda Road.
“Since we are so fortunate, we should extend our blessings to those in need,” Aguilar said. “It is a message of hope and it blends in with the university’s motto, ‘Pro Humanitate.’ And with the difficult times families face economically, this message has become more relevant than ever.”
Brenner’s Children Hospital is part of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
“We will make Christmas bags for the children who are here that day and the toys will be included in them,” explained Wendy Turner, a Child Life Specialist at Brenner’s.
