A team from the Wake Forest University School of Law advanced to the “Sweet 16” during the Gabrielli Family Law Moot Court competition held the last weekend in February at the Albany Law School in New York.
The team — Rebecca Beckett, Darren Lindamood and Ashleigh Wilson — was part of a field of 19 law schools, which included Florida State University, New York Law School, Seton Hall and Syracuse.
The team was seeded No. 1 after two preliminary rounds Feb. 26. It also had the third best brief, and Lindamood was named best oralist. Wake Forest then defeated the University of Mississippi and St. John’s to reach the semi-finals before falling to Florida State, the eventual champion.
“Join me in congratulating the Great Gabriellis,” Professor Suzanne Reynolds said. “The weather compressed the competition into two days, but our team rode with it.”
