In testimony to the House Representatives Energy and Commerce Subcommittee, President of the Center for Progressive Reform and University of Maryland School of Law professor Rena Steinzor cited research co-authored with Professor Sidney Shapiro.
Feb 16, 2011 (Congressional Documents and Publications/ContentWorks via COMTEX) — Mr. Chairman, ranking member Green, and members of the subcommittee, I appreciate the opportunity to testify today on the mistaken belief that environmental protection kills jobs.
No matter how many times this fatally flawed argument is repeated, empirical evidence supporting this assertion is scant and not credible. Instead, the evidence shows that environmental regulations save lives, preserve irretrievable natural resources, and–not incidentally–create jobs.
