Law school winner in the American Bar Association’s Law Practice Management Section of Inaugural “LPM Law Video Awards”

The American Bar Association’s Law Practice Management Section (LPM) announced the winners of its first-ever LPM Law Video Awards  during the  third bi-annual ABA Law Firm Marketing Strategies Conference on Nov. 8 in Philadelphia.

The law school’s video, Wake Forest Law Alumni in New York City, received second place in the Legal Organizations/Legal Vendors category. First place went to the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law and the third place winner was the City University of New York School of Law.

More than 100 high-quality videos from top law firms, law schools and legal vendors competed in four categories: Large Firm; Small Firm; Legal consultant/ Vendor/Organization; and, Short Video.

“This important event acknowledges the significance and burgeoning use of video as a promotional tool in the legal industry,” said Micah Buchdahl, chair of the ABA Law Firm Marketing Strategies Conference.

All entries were reviewed on eight criteria including: Creativity; Marketing of the Video; Tangible Results; Overall Design; Copywriting; Use of the Medium; Memorability; and, Popular Appeal.

“The LPM Law Video Awards are a logical and welcomed part of this conference and for the legal industry,” said Nick Gaffney, vice chair of the ABA Law Firm Marketing Strategies Conference and director of the LPM Law Video Awards. “Judging by the number of entries, law firms are increasingly using video as a powerful tool in their marketing and business development.”

The winners were selected by a panel of judges, from the legal and broadcasting industries:

Regina Austin, Professor of Law at University of Pennsylvania School of Law;

John D. Bowers, Business Development Manager at Fox Rothschild LLP;

Brian Gaffney, Executive Producer of Documentary Unit at Fox News;

Reynolds Holding, Legal Journalist and Reuters Breakingviews Columnist; and,

Broc Romanek, Editor of TheCorporateCounsel.net.

Following the first day of programming that included emotions in marketing, business development ROI and videos in lawyer marketing, the winning videos were viewed by attendees of the conference during the Golden Gavel Awards Ceremony and Reception.  Additional details about the LPM Law Video Awards can be found here and winners can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/lawpracticetips.
