ALBANY—James R. Barnes (’04) of Albany was elected the inaugural young lawyers section representative to the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association.
Barnes, a shareholder at Burke & Casserly, concentrates his practice in elder law, trusts and estates, business succession planning and real estate.
A member of the State Bar’s House of Delegates, Barnes is a past chair of the Young Lawyers Section. He is a member of the Elder Law and Trusts and Estates sections. He is also a member of The New York Bar Foundation’s board of directors.
Barnes graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Binghamton and earned his law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law. He is a resident of Latham and a native of Amherst.
The 76,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation. It was founded in 1876.
