It’s a new game for participants in the Wake Forest Law Firm Challenge and the stakes have been raised. Wake Forest Law is challenging its alumni to be more generous and the grand prize is a big, shiny crystal cup that will grace the lobby of the winning law firm.
The Wake Forest Law Cup Challenge kicked off in December and continues through March 31, 2014. The law firm with 100 percent participation in alumni giving to the Wake Law Fund will win the challenge and the opportunity to have the cup displayed at their firm until the next challenge. If there’s a tie, the firm that has the highest average alumni giving will win.
“The gauntlet has been thrown down,” said Steven Spencer of Wake Forest Law’s advancement team. “We are confident that Wake Forest Law alumni will rise to the challenge and make their law school a priority while at the same time benefitting their firm with positive publicity.”
The cup will be presented to the winning firm at the annual Wake Forest Law Partner’s Celebration in the fall. Only participating firms with 100 percent giving among WFU law alumni will be recognized on the Firm Giving Honor Roll and be eligible to win the Law Firm Challenge Cup.
The Law Firm Challenge was created more than a decade ago to promote continued excellence in legal education at Wake Forest Law. Firms with multiple Wake Forest Law alumni can participate by naming a Firm Representative to encourage and coordinate alumni donations with a goal toward achieving 100 percent giving participation.
The program’s growth has paralleled the increasing national influence of the law school. This year, 630 alumni working at firms with locations across the country participated in the program, securing vital unrestricted support for the law school. The success of this program is evident in that the giving participation rate for alumni working at participating firms is more than the rate of law alumni giving overall.
Firm participation is vital to preserving the high standards in legal education that distinguish Wake Forest Law. The annually published Firm Giving Honor Roll and the Cup Challenge celebrates those firms who have met the challenge of 100 percent alumni giving participation and recognizes their commitment to the future of the law school.
It is also published annually in the Jurist magazine and on the WFU Law School website. The program is designed to build and highlight the WFU connections that we have through many firms. The Firm Giving Program helps alumni working in different firms to unite in the common cause of supporting their alma mater.
If your law firm employs three or more WFU law alumni and you would like to participate, please contact Steven Spencer in the Development & Alumni Relations office via email email@example.com or phone 336.758.5884.
