The Father of the Year Award is presented annually by the National Father’s Day Committee of the Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council. Presentation of the award is accompanied by a comprehensive fundraising campaign benefitting the American Diabetes Association.
Three North Carolina lawyers, all members of the North Carolina Bar Association, will be among those honored at regional Father of the Year Awards dinners in 36 cities across the country this year.
NCBA Executive Director Allan Head (’69) and William Scoggin will be honored June 5 in Raleigh, while Robert Norris will be honored June 20 in Charlotte.
The purpose of the award, according to the American Diabetes Association, is to recognize men who have made family a priority while balancing a demanding career and community involvement. They are outstanding role models as fathers.
Head joined the NCBA in 1973 as executive secretary and has been executive director since 1981. His numerous professional achievements include service as president of the National Association of Bar Executives in 2006-7 and recognition by the NABE as the 2010 recipient of its highest honor, the Bolton Award.
He is a graduate of Wake Forest University and the Wake Forest University School of Law.
