Professor John Knox, a United Nations special rapporteur on human rights and the environment, was quoted in the New York Time article, “Examining the U.N.’s Record on Urgent Global Challenges,” published by Somini Sengupta on Sept. 19, 2016.

The article assesses the U.N.’s performance over the past decade regarding global challenges, such as terrorism, gender equality, climate change, the refugee crisis and more. ┬áProfessor Knox specifically addresses the Human Rights Council, the inter-government group within the U.N. responsible for the promotion and protection of human rights, according to its website.

“The Human Rights Council had some successes, but it will always be hampered by the reluctance of its members to criticize them,” said Professor Knox.

The story was re-posted by Political Science Professor Kent Bolton of California State University San Marcos on his blog, Hydrablog, on Sept. 19, 2016.
