Hometown: Charlottesville, Virginia
Undergraduate education: Elon University, B.A. in Strategic Communications with minors in history and African-American studies.
Why I chose Wake Forest Law: I choose Wake Forest after visiting during my law school application process. The environment at Wake Forest was diverse, and the professors seemed very helpful and interested in the advancement of their students. Additionally, the student body seemed very friendly and collegial, and all had good things to say about their experience here at Wake Forest. I looked at several other law schools in the mid-Atlantic region, but none seemed to compare to Wake Forest Law.
Favorite experience at Wake Forest Law: One of my favorite experiences has been working with Professor Ronald Wright and the Jury Sunshine Project. With this project, we had the opportunity to visit local courthouses and create a log of helpful jury information. As someone with a great interest in the criminal justice system, this was a really great opportunity that helped familiarize me with court filing systems and local jury selection processes.
Plans after graduation: I am hoping to work in the public interest sector advocating for children and families. A big part of why I decided to leave the workforce and come back to law school was my desire to impact the local Triad community and help improve access to adequate legal representation.
Recent accomplishments: I have been selected to be a Martin Luther King Intern for the 2017 Summer with Legal Aid of North Carolina. I’m currently on the Women in Law Board, serve as one of the Public Relations Coordinators for the Pro Bono Project, and I am involved with the “Know Your Rights” project, “Lawyer on the Line” and the Domestic Violence Advocacy Clinic. I am also a Hopkins Pro Humanitate Award recipient.
Hobbies and interests: Dancing, reading fictional novels, doing yoga and hiking.
Fun fact: I am a classically trained ballerina.
