Wake Forest Law Moot Court has announced its board members for the 2017-2018 academic year. The following students were elected: Emily Lagan (JD ’18) as Chief Justice, Vanessa Garrido (JD ’18) as Associate Chief Justice and Kyle Mirabelli (JD ’18) as Marshall.
“On behalf of the outgoing board, I am thankful to be leaving the board in such capable hands and I look forward to hearing of its future success,” said Eric Benedict (JD ’17), current Moot Court Chief Justice.
Students in Moot Court develop effective legal research skills, draft persuasive appellate briefs and deliver oral arguments through their participation in various intramural and interscholastic appellate advocacy competitions.
During each fall semester, for the last 46 years, Moot Court Board has conducted a moot court competition for first-year law students. In 1998, the Moot Court Board named this competition the George K. Walker Moot Court Competition in honor of Professor Walker’s long-standing support of the Wake Forest Moot Court program. It also hosts the inaugural Wake Forest Law Transactional Competition at Worrell Professional Center, among others.
