Wake Forest School of Law has for the fifth year in a row won the North Carolina Bar Association’s North Carolina Legal Feeding Frenzy. The 2018 event saw more than 373,018 pounds of food collected — 66,000 more pounds of food than in 2017, according to organizers.
This year’s winners will be recognized by North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein on at 2 p.m. on April 25 at the N.C. Bar Center in Cary.
Caleb Holloway (JD ’16), who helped the law school win the first contest five years ago and his Charlotte law firm of Gardner Skelton PLLC win its category this year, wrote in an email to Barber, “Great job, Avery—thanks for your hard work…you had some strong competition this year.”
The Legal Feeding Frenzy is sponsored by the Young Lawyers Division of the North Carolina Bar Association, the North Carolina Attorney General and the North Carolina Association of Feed America Food Banks. The annual event is a food and monetary donation drive to support food banks across North Carolina.
Kristen Kenley, the attorney that organized the Legal Feeding Frenzy, wrote in an email to participants, “I want to thank you all for your support and enthusiasm during the 2018 Legal Feeding Frenzy. Because of your involvement, we had 91 teams participate and raised 373,018 pounds of food! That is five more teams and 66,000 more pounds of food than last year. This is an incredible effort! Please spread the word within your organization – we couldn’t have done it without them.”
