Law School Honors Former Chief Justice I. Beverly Lake, Jr. with Outstanding Alumni Award

I. Beverly Lake, Jr., former chief justice of the NC Supreme Court, was recently honored by the law school with the Distinguished Alumni Award for Outstanding Service to the Legal Profession and to the State of North Carolina.  At a dinner for the Law School Alumni Council and Board of Visitors this past Friday evening, Lake was praised for his many contributions  to NC’s judicial system and received a standing ovation as he was presented with the award by Dean Robert Walsh.

David Pryor to Deliver the Third Annual Jeff Rupe Lecture

David Pryor, former dean of the Clinton School of Public Service at the University of Arkansas and former Governor and United States Senator from Arkansas, will be giving the third annual Rupe Lecture at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 1.  The lecture will take place in the Law School’s Courtroom, Room 1312.  The lecture is open to the public

Law School’s Professionalism Program Recieves ABA’s Prestigious Gambrell Award

Wake Forest University School of Law has been selected by the American Bar  Association to receive the prestigious E. Smythe Gambrell Professionalism Award.  The Gambrell Award is presented by the ABA Standing Committee on Professionalism to bar associations, law schools, law firms, or law related organizations recognizing excellent projects that enhance professionalism among lawyers.  The 2004 award to Wake Forest recognizes the Law School’s comprehensive program and commitment to professionalism.  Dean Robert K. Walsh will accept the Gambrell Award at the upcoming ABA annual meeting at a lunch on August 6 in Atlanta.

Robert Grey, ABA President-Elect, is the 2004 Hooding Speaker

Robert J. Grey Jr., a partner in Hunton & Williams in Richmond, Virginia, will be the Hooding Speaker for the 2004 Hooding Ceremony at Wait Chapel on Sunday, May 16, beginning at 1:45 pm.  Grey is the president-elect of the American Bar Association.
