The article “The Gay Marriage Case That Makes No Sense,” which was published on Slate.com on May 2, 2014, refers to Executive Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Suzanne Reynolds as “having written the book on family law” and Reynolds says, “UCC clergy would be liable for a penalty only if they purported to marry a couple for civil purposes. On the other hand, if clergy performed what was purely a religious ceremony, the law would not apply.”  The full text of the article follows from Slate.
