Longtime media attorney, First Amendment expert Jonathan Buchan to give Constitution Day lecture on Sept. 14

Jonathan Buchan of Essex Richards P.A. will give the Wake Forest University annual Constitution Day lecture at noon on Thursday, Sept. 14, in the Worrell Professional Center, Room 1312. In addition to serving as an adjunct professor at Wake Forest School of Law, the longtime media lawyer and business litigator has represented The Charlotte Observer along with other North Carolina media outlets throughout his career. The event, which includes a light lunch, is open to all Wake Forest University students, faculty and staff.

Professor Wendy Parker presents ‘Equal Protection & Black Lives Matter’ for 2016 Constitution Day lecture

In celebration of Constitution Day, Professor Wendy Parker opened a discussion on applications and interpretations of the Equal Protection Clause with the Wake Forest University community on Friday, Sept. 16.

In the widely attended lecture, “Equal Protection & Black Lives Matter,” Parker asked the audience to consider the language of the clause and whether presidential candidates should be responsible for understanding contemporary Constitutional interpretations, contextualizing the discussion through the “Black Lives Matter” movement and the responses it generates.
