Justin Jenkins (’14) and Professor John Korzen (’91) argued on behalf of Appellate Advocacy Clinic clients in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, in Atlanta on Jan. 14, 2014. The two arguments were the first ever for the Clinic in the Eleventh Circuit. The Eleventh Circuit hears appeals from federal district courts in three states: Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.

Professor Michael D. Green, 2012 winner of the John G. Fleming Memorial Prize for Torts Scholarship, delivered the Second Fleming Lecture at Berkeley Law with co-winner William Powers, Jr. of the University of Texas on Monday, Nov. 5. Upon acceptance of the prize, both men presented a lecture entitled “Restating Torts”, largely centered around their outstanding co-report on two core portions of the new Restatement (Third) of Torts, “Restatement Third, Torts: Liability for Physical and Emotional Harm“, for which, among other accomplishments, they were being honored.

Professor Steve Virgil, director of the Community Law and Business Clinic, will be teaching an interdisciplinary course in Nicaragua in January entitled Cross Disciplinary Professional Development. The course, also led by the university’s Center for Public Engagement, offers an opportunity to look at law in a comparative, interdisciplinary fashion, as well as the opportunity to experience a trip to Managua, Nicaragua, at the university’s newest international facility, Casa Dingledine.

Wake Forest University law students joined volunteer attorneys and community volunteers at the Winston-Salem Pro Bono Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) event on Nov. 10 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Overseeing the event was Professor Margaret Taylor, well known for her teaching and research on immigration law and policy.
