The Wake Forest University School of Law conferred hoods on 188 graduates during its 44th annual hooding ceremony on Sunday, May 20, 2018, in Wait Chapel, including 153 Juris Doctor degree candidates, 20 International Master of Laws in American Law degree (LLM) candidates, seven Master of Studies in Law (MSL) candidates and eight Scientiae Juridicae Doctors (SJD) candidates. The MSL graduates represent the first class that earned their master’s degrees wholly online.

Wake Forest School of Law alumni returned in droves on April 20, 2018, to help recognize and honor the 188 combined years of service of retiring Professors Miles Foy, Ralph Peeples, Charley Rose, George Walker, and Dean Emeritus Bob Walsh.
The “Last Class with Professor Rose” was held in Worrell Professional Center in the morning and a panel discussion with the “Fab Five” professors, with the exception of Professor Walker, was held in the afternoon in Farrell Hall followed by a reception in Worrell. Those unable to attend either or both events can watch the recordings of “The Last Class” and the “Fab 5,” moderated by Dean Suzanne Reynolds (JD ’77).

Ashley Bouchez (JD ’19) of Huntersville, North Carolina, won the 46th annual George K. Walker Moot Court Competition final round on Thursday, April 13, in the Worrell Professional Center.
Bouchez argued in opposition of Jonathan Patton (JD ’19), who was named runner-up of the competition. Patton is a native of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
The final round showcases the top two first-year law students in the moot court competition. Arguing a fictitious discrimination case, Bouchon represented the Plaintiff Celia Weston, as guardian for Albert Blair, while Patton represented the Defendant Dalton Corp.

Professor George Walker, the Dean’s Research Professor of Admiralty and Maritime Law, served as an observer for the Uniform Family Law Arbitration Act (UFLAA), recently approved by the Uniform Law Commission (ULC) at its 2016 Annual Meeting in Stowe, Vermont. Alumnus Lynn Burleson (JD ’80), a certified arbitrator and member of the Board of Governors of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, also served as an observer.

The members of the Stetson International Environmental Law Moot Court team won the North American Regional Competition during the weekend of Feb. 6-8, 2015, in Washington, D.C. The moot court team, led by Professor John Knox, is composed of law students Elissa Hachmeister (’16), Ashley Sims (’16) and Emily Singer (’16). They will now advance to the International Finals held at Stetson College of Law on April 16-18, 2015.
