Robert Botkin (JD ’18) places second in national Securities Law writing competition

Robert Botkin (JD ’18) has placed second in the 2017 James E. Beckley Writing Competition for his paper titled, “FINRA and the Developing Appointments Clause Doctrine.”

The James E. Beckley Writing Competition is a national Securities Law writing competition conducted by the PIABA Foundation, an organization that promotes investor education. Botkin received a $750 stipend, according to competition organizers.

JBIPL wins The Expert Institute’s Best Law School Blog Contest for the second year running

The Wake Forest Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law (JBIPL) blog has been voted The Expert Institute’s Best Education and Law School Blog for the second year in a row. JBIPL’s blog earned a total of 1,068  votes compared with Arizona State University’s law school Bits, Bots & Biomarkers blog, which received 1,008 votes. Voting closed on Nov. 13, 2016.

“The JBIPL Blog offers a forum for our Editors and Staff to expand our coverage of developments in both business and IP law, discussing current events in music and entertainment,” the JBIPL website states.

Journal of Business and Intellectual Property to host spring symposium on banking industry issues on Feb. 10, 2017

The Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law will focus on a variety of banking issues at its spring symposium, “Banking Law: Current and Future Issues,” from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017,  in the Worrell Professional Center. This event is free and open to the public. Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit from the North Carolina State Bar has been approved for five hours.
