Wake Forest Law celebrates first Two-Year International JDs, confers hoods on 200-plus graduates

The Wake Forest University School of Law conferred hoods on more than 200 graduates on Sunday, May 14, including 177 Juris Doctor degree candidates, 17 International Master of Laws in American Law degree (LLM) candidates, nine Master of Studies in Law (MSL) candidates and four Scientiae Juridicae Doctors (SJD) candidates. The school conferred hoods on its first Two-Year International JD graduates — Julia de la Parra and Santiago Herrera of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Shou Li of Liuzhou, China.

Wake Forest Law professors, staff present at Legal Writing Institute’s 17th Biennial Conference on July 10-13

Three Wake Forest Law professors and a staff member will make presentations at the 17th Biennial Conference of the Legal Writing Institute entitled, “Thriving in a Time of Change,” on July 10–13, 2016, in Portland, Oregon.

The 2016 Biennial Conference of the Legal Writing Institute will bring together legal writing professors and other members of the legal academy and practicing bar. The conference this year has a renewed goal of building our sense of community. In LWI’s always collegial and collaborative environment, colleagues will have a chance to meet, reconnect and share ideas about pedagogy, scholarship and professional growth.

The Wake Forest Gabrielli Family Law Moot Court team of Katherine Haddock (JD ’17), Emily Jeske (JD ’17) and James Lathrop (JD ’17) competed from March 3-5 at the Domenick L. Gabrielli National Family Law Moot Court Competition at Albany School of Law in Albany, New York.

Wake Forest Law graduates top overall North Carolina bar exam passage rate

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Wake Forest Law graduates had the highest overall bar passage rate (which includes repeaters) at 83 percent among North Carolina law schools for the North Carolina bar exam in July 2015. That’s compared with a state overall passage rate of 58 percent, according to the North Carolina Board of Law Examiners.
